Today’s giveaway is perfect for any mother! “Dear Son” is a beautiful keepsake book created by Marianne Richmond for those of us who may be less “crafty” than others. As I’ve said before, I tend to break out in hives and get into the fetal position if anyone comes near me with glue and scissors. So these books are perfect for me!
But first, you must hear the “story” behind these books! Marianne Richmond, the author of these books, dreamed of climbing the corporate ladder. However, after only 13 months at her first corporate job, Marianne got bored with her “real job” and went on a search for more creative opportunities. She even took a continuing education class on “How to Start Your Own Greeting Card Company”!
… I love her already!
Marianne soon was diagnosed with a brain tumor — thankfully benign! — the case of epileptic seizures through her childhood. While recovering, she started hand-painting “thank you” cards for her many well-wishers. A friend saw her work and offered to sell her hand-painted cards to nearby gift shops. Marianne first thought the pal was “crazy”, but soon, orders were coming in! After 1000 hand-painted cards, she and her husband Jim decided to start a greeting card company in 1991.
… have a “crazy” dream, sweet friends? Perhaps we all need a friend like Marianne’s to push us to chase these crazy dreams…
I had the opportunity to review one of her books, “Dear Son”. This book is touching, and I probably couldn’t tell you about it in person without crying. Marianne said that she knows that some of us are “craftier” than others, so the book is designed so you can add as little or as much personalization as you’d like.
From the publisher:
Customize the cover with your own special photo—paste your photos inside—tuck a heartfelt message into a vellum envelope and paste into the book—affix mementos of special memories like ticket stubs, postcards, and more—and handwrite your own thoughts or advice in the book. It’s sure to become a family treasure. Organized Parent Price = $15.95
She also authored “Dear Daughter” and “Dear Granddaughter/Grandson”. These would make beautiful gifts!

Marianne’s story is beautiful! What creativity. And thank you to her, for those of us that don’t tend to take the time to be creative!
I just had my second after 12 years of being told I couldn’t. This is the best idea by far to save those memories!

What a great idea! Sometimes we freak out about the “bad” things that happen in our lives, but this just shows how God truly does have a plan to prosper and not to harm us, and how He really does work everything out for the good of those who love Him!
I would love to win.
