Celeb Lookalikes! {friday fun}

Do you have a celebrity lookalike? Check out these lookalikes sent in by readers and friends!

First, I have to say this post was inspired by Kristen at “We Are That Family(my all-time favorite blog) when she wrote about signing away the movie rights to her new book. She said her family had fun laughing about it and dreaming up who might play their roles in a movie. She made me start thinking about her “Celeb Lookalike”. I found Michelle Dockery of Downton Abbey and thought they were a great match! What do you think?!

Then, my sweet friend Lee of Prayer Gifts (go check it out!) posted this photo on Facebook. I can totally see Lee’s resemblance to Paula Deen! Can you? I think it’s the sweet smile! Love you, Lee! (Love you too, Paula, if you are reading this — HA!)

Lee_Paula

So, I started asking my friends and readers to send me photos of themselves and their celeb lookalikes — and to help me find one for ME because I could not think of anyone at all.

This is by far my favorite. Sandy, girlfriend, you are a hoot! You had been literally laughing out loud at my computer screen. You are a brave woman! Thank you for sending this to me — love it!

Sandy and Boy George:

Next up, my sweet friend Anna (aka ThePeacockQuill on Twitter) has an UNCANNY resemblance to Kate, Duchess of Cambridge! Uncanny, I tell you!

Anna and Kate:

So, my friends — bless their hearts — tried to help me come up with a lookalike for myself. The responses were quite a surprise to me and I really don’t see a resemblance, but we’ll let YOU pick! What do you think?

My husband says I look like Meg Ryan after I blow-dry my hair. I don’t think he meant that in a good way… ahem.

Paula at Beauty Through Imperfection has always been told she looks like Anne Hathaway… and I agree! Don’t you?

AnneHathaway

Another Facebook friend, Robyn, chose Jennifer Connelly as her celeb lookalike — great match!

robyn

Last but not least, my Facebook friend Allison looks like Natalie Merchant!

natalie

There were so many more GREAT lookalikes that I wish I could include, but I’m running out of time. We may have to have a follow-up post! This was so much fun!!!

Thanks to everyone who joined in the conversation on Facebook and Twitter. By the way, if we haven’t connected yet — come on over and say howdy! We have alot of fun conversations there and would love for YOU to join us!

Who do people say YOU look like? What was your favorite lookalike on this post? Have any suggestions for ME?

Hello, My Name Is {and do you blog?}

It’s Friday, and we need some FUN today!

I’m having fun doing this:

So first………….. this is how I normally take life with my boys — very seriously, as you can tell.

sillypic

I just finished reading this:

Loved the suspense! I’m really enjoying suspense books right now, so if you know of any good ones, let me know!

SafeHavenPoster-300

I am laughing about this:

(Background — my grandmother, who is 89, was in the hospital last weekend for very high blood pressure. When we visited her, she told us she was ready to go home and didn’t want to be in the hospital).

My four-year-old son prayed this during his bedtime prayers after my grandmother was released from the hospital: “Thank you, Jesus, for helping Mammaw bust outta that hospital!:)

I can’t stop singing this:

(“Hello, My Name Is” by Matthew West)

What about You?

Fill in this blank in the comments: “Hello, my name is __________” and tell us what are you enjoying, reading, laughing about, or about your blog or life!

Friday Fun {or how to still be a southern belle at a monster truck show}

Your words, comments, and emails on yesterday’s post were so appreciated and beautiful. Like bright yellow daffodils that pop up after a cold, dreary winter… thank you…. After yesterday, I thought we could use a little cheer and joy. So, today I just wanted to share a little about what we did last week for spring break.

And how we cleared an entire motel swimming pool in less than 30 minutes.

Um… yeah.

When we arrived at the motel, we had about 30 minutes before time to leave for dinner and a monster truck show. (Yes, I am definitely a mom of boys). So, the boys decided to swim, and I just relaxed and watched. These are the photos you might see on Facebook — looks like a perfect evening, right?

pool3pool4

What you DON’T see on Facebook is the photo of my youngest son jumping into the pool before my husband was ready to catch him, getting choked on the water, gagging, and vomiting in the pool. Oh yes. Vomit in the pool is not a great way to win friends and influence people… or make the motel manager like you at all.

Moral of this story? Don’t believe everything you see on Facebook… there is probably much more to the story!

Next, I have to share the funniest thing. I track analytics on my blog which also tells me what people search for that lands them on my blog. Consistently, the #1 search that leads to my blog is “lessons on how to be a southern belle”. (Google it and see – so funny!!!)

That search is even funnier considering last weekend I was at a monster truck show. Classy. ;)

Jeremiah monstertrucks2 monstertrucks  isaac

We had a great time together!

I had to stay “southern belle” at the monster truck show, so I just made sure to carry my bright pink handbag.

… I was definitely the only one carrying a pink purse!purse

Next, we enjoyed Great Wolf Lodge! It was so much fun! The boys loved swimming and the waterslides. I have to admit that waterslides (especially the ones in the “tubes”) make me feel absolutely panicked. I went on just a couple, but I’m more of a land-lover. God didn’t give me fins for a good reason!

GWL1

GWL3 GWL2

We also visited Charlotte’s Discovery Place. It is such a great museum for children and adults alike! My boys especially enjoyed the rainforest show!

museum2 museum3

My oldest son amazes me! He is like a little knowledge sponge!!! He absolutely loves learning!

museum5

… and I <<finally>> found something my youngest son is afraid of — SNAKES! He moved from beside of his brother to hide behind me during the snake’s visit! Ha!!

museum4

So, what’s going on with you, sweet friends? Are you having a good week? Have you been pushed out of your comfort zone too — like a pink-loving-land-locked-southern-belle at a monster truck show and waterpark?

:)
